Sincerely yours:The Importance of Sincerity

 Hello again dear reader,

I was sending an email to a coworker the other day, and I closed out the email by saying sincerely yours….  The same way I've done a thousand times before. However, it occurred to me, that i never really contemplated the meaning of the word “sincerity” before. Don't get me wrong dear reader, I know what sincerity is supposed to mean;In the grand scheme of things. However, I had never really contemplated the meaning of the word and what it means to actually live as a sincere person.  So dear reader, after giving it some thought, this is the best I could come up with for what sincerity is, and how to live as an honestly sincere person. So, hopefully by the end of this article dear reader, you will understand sincerity, and it's true meaning the next time you put it at the end of an email.

What is Sincerity?

Sincerity means being honest and serious in everything you do and say. It's important to be sincere in your communications and to always tell the truth. Sincerity is a mark of a true human being. 

Gossip and Keeping Confidences

It's essential to keep private information confidential. You should treat confidential information like money in a trust. You are the guardian, but you are not allowed to spend it. Gossip can hurt both you and the person you talk about. It can make people mistrust you and ruin someone's reputation. 

How to Keep Confidences

Before sharing information, ask yourself if it's true, kind, and necessary. If you can't answer yes to all three, then don't share it. If someone asks you to reveal a secret, you can say, “Can you keep a secret?” If they say yes, you can say, “Well, so can I.” 

Tone Down Your Sarcasm

Sarcasm can be funny, but it can also hurt people's feelings. It's critical to use sarcasm in moderation. Sarcasm can be a way to indirectly express aggression and insecurity. It's essential to be frank and trustworthy in your communication. 

Lying

It's important to always tell the truth. Even omitting parts of a story can be considered lying. It's easy to rationalize lying, but it's essential to strive for complete honesty. White lies can be necessary, but it's critical to err on the side of honesty. 

What About Lies to Preserve People's Feelings?

It's essential to be honest, but occasionally, it's necessary to tell white lies to preserve someone's feelings. However, it's indispensable to remember that white lies can hurt someone in the long term. It's best to answer with the utmost sincerity in most situations.
